Why Riders Are More Vulnerable
Two-wheeler riders are particularly exposed during extreme heat due to direct sun exposure and prolonged travel in traffic. Wearing helmets and protective gear, while essential for safety, can further trap heat and increase the risk of dehydration or heat stroke if proper care is not taken.

Five Tips To Prevent Heatstroke
Stay Hydrated: Drink water at regular intervals, even if you do not feel thirsty. Carry a water bottle during rides. It is also essential for riders to maintain an intake of electrolytes through various sources, such as coconut water.
Choose Breathable Gear: Opt for lightweight, ventilated riding jackets and helmets with proper airflow. Specifically, the riders should opt for riding jackets with mesh, which allows the flow of air.
Avoid Peak Hours: Plan rides early in the morning or later in the evening to escape the harsh midday sun.
Take Breaks: During long commutes, stop periodically in shaded areas to cool down and rest.
Watch For Warning Signs: Symptoms like dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, or nausea should not be ignored. It is essential to notice and act accordingly to prevent any health issues.
Advisory For Commuters
Health experts recommend limiting unnecessary travel during peak heat hours and wearing light-coloured, loose clothing. For riders, using sunglasses and applying sunscreen can also reduce direct heat exposure.
