Lotus has unveiled the plug-in hybrid version of its Eletre SUV, branded 'Lotus For Me' in China. The reveal comes just a year after the company stepped back from its earlier pledge to maintain an EV-only lineup by 2028. The new Eletre PHEV will make its public debut in January and is scheduled for a global launch in the first quarter of 2026, marking a significant expansion of Lotus's electrified portfolio.

The Lotus Eletre plug-in hybrid combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 70kWh battery, powering electric motors on both axles. Together, this setup produces an impressive 952 hp, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 3.3 seconds. Beyond performance, efficiency is a highlight, with the battery delivering a CLTC-rated range of 420km. Charging is equally convenient, as a DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 30 to 80 percent in just eight minutes.

On the exterior, the Lotus Eletre PHEV closely mirrors its all-electric sibling, retaining the same bold SUV stance. The differences, however, lie in subtle yet distinctive touches. These include a redesigned, more open grille that enhances airflow, fresh alloy wheel designs, unique 'For Me' badging, and carbonfibre-style trim on the D-pillars. Together, these elements give the plugin hybrid version a slightly sportier and more individual character while maintaining the futuristic appeal that has defined the Eletre lineup since its debut.

Although official images of the Eletre PHEV's cabin are not yet available, expectations point to minor tweaks within an otherwise familiar layout. Buyers can look forward to premium features such as a 15.1-inch OLED infotainment touchscreen, digital driver's display, passenger screen, and a 23-speaker KEF audio system. Comfort highlights include heated, cooled, and massaging seats with full electrical adjustment, soft-close doors, ADAS functions, ambient lighting, and more.
