Kawasaki has introduced the updated Z650RS in India, priced at Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom). While mechanically unchanged, the engine is now E20-compliant and delivers slightly reduced torque. The neo-retro sibling of the Z650 also gains a fresh metallic blue and gold colourway, replacing the earlier black and gold scheme, though graphics and signature gold wheels remain the same. This update follows Kawasaki's broader effort to make its 650 line-up E20-ready, with the Z650RS joining the Ninja 650 and Versys 650 in receiving the upgrade.
The 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS is equipped with the familiar liquid-cooled, 4-stroke parallel-twin engine displacing 649cc. It produces 50.2 kW (68 PS) at 8,000 rpm and delivers 64 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm. Power is managed through a 6-speed return transmission, complemented by an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts and reduced rider fatigue. This combination ensures a balance of performance, usability, and control, making the engine suitable for both everyday riding and spirited runs.

It blends retro inspiration with modern practicality, highlighted by timeless styling cues drawn from the 1970s. Its slim 12-litre fuel tank and original-design cast wheels with flat spokes echo the look of traditional wire-spoked rims, reinforcing its classic appeal. Lighting is advanced yet nostalgic, with a round LED headlamp using dual chambers to mimic the glow of a vintage bulb, paired with a compact horizontal LED tail lamp. Ergonomics are carefully considered, thanks to a trellis frame and a seat height of 820 mm that ensures comfort and confidence. The upright riding position enhances maneuverability while allowing easy ground reach for riders.

The 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS also gets an analogue-style speedometer and tachometer, paired with a multi-functional LCD screen. This setup balances classic aesthetics with contemporary functionality, offering riders clear information while retaining a vintage look. Adding to rider confidence, Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) enhances performance and safety across varied conditions. The advanced system allows riders to tackle low-traction surfaces with assurance, while two selectable modes provide flexibility to suit different preferences and riding situations. Together, these features deliver a mix of nostalgic design and modern technology.
