Villagers felicitate woman for delivering twin girls

Aurangabad: Inspired by the government's 'save girl-child' campaign, a 24-year-old woman of Modha in Sillod Tehsil of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra was felicitated by the villagers for giving birth to twin girls.

The villagers, sources said, held a meeting with the headmaster of the local school and decided to fete Maya S Kharate who delivered baby girls a week ago.

They were inspired by 'Beti Bachao' (save girl-child) campaign of the government, the felicitation was organised on Sunday as part of the campaign.

Three other women who recently gave birth to girls were also felicitated.

The villagers also decided to deposit Rs 3,000 for each child in the bank in the names of Kharate's new-born daughters who would redeem them upon completion of 18 years.
