Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a rally in Baramati, Maharashtra

Baramati, Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his election campaign in Maharashtra by addressing a rally at Baramati, in Pune. PM Modi has been addressing multiple rallies in the state in a bid to help the BJP win as many seats as possible in the upcoming assembly elections. Maharashtra assembly polls are scheduled on October 15.

Here are the highlights from his speech:

  • This large gathering has not come to elect new government or to choose their MLA. This is a second freedom struggle -- for independence from the uncle and nephew.
  • I'm with the people of Baramati. There is so much money that has come into Baramati but where that has gone no one knows.
  • The farmer has woken up now. He is fighting for his rights.
  • The Congress has ruled this country for 60 years and are not prepared to be held accountable. And they want me to account for my 60 days in office?
    • These people think of themselves as rulers, Maharajas and therefore they are not able to understand that they have to be answerable to the people.
    • I understand that... I am a common (samanya)  man.
    • 'You are my High Command': PM Modi tells people in  Baramati, Maharashtra.
