Akhilesh Yadav takes his Kranti Rath Yatra to western UP

Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh: As campaigning reaches fever pitch in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav kickstarted the ninth phase of his 'Kranti Rath Yatra' today.

The young leader, who is the son of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, will be touring the constituencies of Subeha, Haidergarh and Mohanlalganj. The SP has just one seat in its fold out of the three constituencies.

During the next four days, the SP leader will also tour more than 14 constituencies in the western UP districts of Bijnore and Moradabad and hold 16 rallies in the region.

With just four seats in its kitty, the Samajwadi Party would be hoping to increase its tally in this region.

The state goes to polls on February 4 and in a first, will witness seven-phased elections - the longest in any state in the country so far - that will end on February 28.
