Girls top Uttar Pradesh Class 12 board exams
Allahabad: Two girls from the same college jointly topped the Class 12 exams of the Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Board, results of which were announced on Tuesday. Girls outperformed the boys by a margin of over 10 per cent.

Overall 95.52 per cent girls passed the exams while the pass percentage of boys was 84.73 per cent.

According to the board officials, two girls - Abhilasha Yagya Saini and Apoorva Verma - students of the  Maharani Laxmi Bai Memorial College in Barabanki, scored 96.20 per cent and stood the joint first.

The overall pass percentage this year was 89.40, officials told Indo-Asian News Service. Ashutosh Singh of Lucknow scored 89.40 per cent and stood third in the merit list.

A total of 27,82,790 students appeared for the intermediate exams this year - 64,000 more than last year.
