Telangana fallout: No IPL matches in Hyderabad?
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday February 9, 2010, Hyderabad
Deccan Chargers the reigning champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may not be able to play any games on their home turf Hyderabad this year.

The IPL's governing council has decided to relocate all the five matches that were to be held in the Andhra Pradesh Capital, due to apprehensions over the Telangana issue.

The state's Sports Minister has written to the BCCI, urging that this decision be reconsidered. NDTV has a copy of the letter, which claims that the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) has promised not to disrupt any of the IPL games.

Apart from the opening ceremony and opening matches of the IPL, Hyderabad was due to host four more games. Three other games are to be held in Vizag this year.

It is very easy to ignite passions in the name of region, language, religion in india. Time and again the political leader has used all these techinques to gain political milage. Today bandh call given by OUJAC was a flop and was rejected by the people. First TRS has started the agitation by provoking the people that there is lot of under developement in the region and now when the leaders of other areas are showing the statistics, they are quoting self-respect for asking for a seperate state. If self-resepect is the basis for the formation of the state, how many states are required in this country?

This is good news for DC fans. Till date none of the home team has ever won a match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. DC are champs because of matches held outside their home ground. Telangana movement is good for DC
