A 16-year-old girl from Kolkata who set herself on fire on Monday last after being gang-raped by a group of six men died at a hospital in the city today. The girl's family has alleged that she was being harassed by friends of the accused.
The teenager was gang-raped, allegedly by six men, near her house in the Barasat area of the city on October 25. Three days later, while she was returning home after filing a police complaint, the same group allegedly raped her again.
Her distraught parents have demanded the death sentence for her alleged rapists and those who tormented her.
