Tamil Nadu MP, in Sri Lanka to attend Prabhakaran's mother's funeral, deported

Colombo: An MP and two other politicians from Tamil Nadu have been deported by Sri Lankan immigration authorities. The two leaders landed in Colombo to attend the funeral of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran's mother, who died on Sunday.

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader and MP Thol Thirumavalan and others were deported back to India from the airport.

"They have been deported upon their arrival," former TNA MP M K Sivajilingam said. It was not clear who are the other two leaders.

"They (airport officials) didn't give any reasons for the deportation" he said.

Velupillai Parvathipillai (81), the mother of Prabhakaran, passed away on Sunday after prolonged illness at a government hospital in northern Sri Lanka.
