Raje says she'll obey party orders, but sets rider

New Delhi:

After Jaswant Singh's expulsion from the Bharatiya Janata Party, will former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje toe the party line and step down?

Vasundhara Raje has assured BJP president Rajnath Singh that she will obey party's order. The party has asked the former Rajasthan chief minister to resign as the Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan.

However, sources have told NDTV that Raje has set few conditions for quitting from her post.

The leader had come to Delhi to meet senior leader Lal Krishna Advani and Rajnath Singh on Saturday.

"I am in Delhi to meet senior party leaders. I was supposed to meet them after 'chintan baithak," said Raje.

Ahead of the critical meeting in the Capital, she met hundreds of supporters enroute as a show of strength.

Vasundhara supporters have always maintained that she should not step down as she was democratically elected as CLP leader. But with the inner turmoil in the BJP, and many keen to fix the blame for the defeat in Rajasthan on her shoulders, her detractors are keen to see her go.

But what Vasundhara manages to get in the bargain will be interesting to watch if she steps down. Will she be rehabilitated at the centre as a general secretary or will she also manage to get the CLP leader of her choice elected in Rajasthan and her two suspended supporters reinstated?
