Congress Will Support Any Decision Against Corruption: Rahul Gandhi

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is addressing a rally in Gujarat after he visited the Umiya Mata temple in Unjha town of Mehsana district and offered prayers.

Here are the highlights:

• If Narendra Modiji's government takes any big or small step to eradicate corruption, Congress party will support them
• Demonetisation move wasn't made against corruption or black money. It was against the honest poor people
• All cash is not black money and all black money is not in cash
• Don't know why PM Modiji did not target the 94% of black money but the other 6%. He did not target the 1% corrupt but 99% honest people
• The objective of Modiji's plan was to get as much money from the honest into the banks, for at least 6 months, so that he may get to waive-off the pending Rs 1,40,000 crore in loans taken by the rich
• You haven't done a surgical strike but you have firebombed the poor people of the country
• The Tokyo firebombing killed more people than the atomic bomb. And now Modiji has done the same. He has firebombed the honest and the poor of India.
• A farmer does not purchase his seeds by cheque or card but in cash, you have taken away that cash from them
• The Modi government didn't want to give farmers what they wanted. The Prime Minister took it upon himself to stall our Land Acquisition Bill that would've helped farmers
• PM Modi even made fun of daily-wagers in Parliament. He said labourers don't do anything, but dig holes
• Patidars took out a peaceful resolution for their rights, but you hit their women and children
• Modiji, the poor, hard-working people of India do not hoard India's black money. It's the 50-most richest families that are responsible for the black money. All cash is not black and all black money is not in cash.
• When a farmer purchases seeds he does so with cash, not a chequebook. When he gets his wages, he gets it in cash. It isn't deposited in his account from where he can withdraw it using his debit card.
• India hasn't ever had this kind of unemployment. Modiji has finished small industries like textile and others. He has hit the very community which brought about the White Revolution.
• Modiji gave a lot of lectures about black money whilst campaigning in 2014. He promised himself, 'black money is hoarded in Swiss Banks and that his government would bring it back'
• Modiji also promised to give each one of you Rs 15 Lakh in your account. How many of you has actually got that money?
• The Swiss government has even handed over the list of Indian account holders to the Centre. We know this because we had asked it in Parliament. Then why hasn't the government revealed this list yet?
• Modiji you have burned the pockets of crores of honest, hard-working men and women. You go to a pop concert and laugh it off by claiming that you burned 500- and 1,000-rupee notes
