Karnataka crisis: Law Minister backs Governor
Mumbai: As the Governor recommended President's Rule in Karnataka, hours after the Yeddyurappa government won a trust vote amid chaos in the assembly, Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily has backed Governor HR Bhardwaj by saying that the Speaker, KG Bopaiah, acted unconstitutionally by disqaulifying the rebel MLAs.

Speaking to NDTV, Moily said that fear psychosis was created inside the Assembly.

The BJP government proved majority on the floor of the house by voice vote amid chaos after BS Yeddyurappa moved the confidence motion.

The voting took place after the Speaker disqualified 16 MLAs, including five independent MLAs - a move which brought down the strength of the house and helped the BJP.
