Four suspected Maoists were killed and a police constable was critically injured in an encounter between the rebels and police force in a remote village of Assam's Tinsukia district today.
Police said, acting on a tip-off about the presence of the group at Deopani Borgora village Sadiya police station, it launched an operation in the area. Search operations were continuing in the area and huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from the area.
Police said, the injured constable, Achinta Das, was being brought to the Assam College Hospital at Dibrugarh.
