Islamabad:

The stalled cross-border travel and trade between India and Pakistan through the Chakothi-Uri crossing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir resumed today after being suspended over a week ago.

Traffic through the crossing was suspended on February 7 after Indian security officials in Uri reportedly recovered nearly 200 packets of suspected contraband from an orange-laden truck coming from across the border.

Subsequently, the cross-border trade was halted following the seizure of 72 trucks on both sides.

According to a Pakistani newspaper report last week, Indian and Pakistani authorities reached an understanding following which all but one of the 72 trucks stranded on the opposite sides of the border were allowed to return in the evening.
