Hyderabad: A complaint was today lodged with Hyderabad Police against AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi over his statement that he would provide legal help to the terror suspects arrested by the NIA.

K Karuna Sagar, a practising advocate, filed the complaint with Saroor Nagar police in Hyderabad and sought registration of a case.

However, Saroor Nagar Police Station Inspector S Lingaiah told Press Trust of India, "We have received the complaint against the Hyderabad MP. No case has been registered and we are seeking legal advice."

In the complaint, Mr Sagar alleged that "the stand of Asaduddin Owaisi and his remarks is boosting the morale of anti-nationals and giving oxygen to terrorists. (Asaduddin) Owaisi is directly or indirectly helping the ISIS which had come up with a video in which it threatened to target India and this is betrayal of the country".

"The revelations of the arrested accused to carry out terror attacks on police stations, religious places, prominent persons from right-wing organisations is shocking," he claimed.

"The conspiracy has been foiled. But, Asaduddin Owaisi talks of providing legal aid to five ISIS suspects arrested by the NIA amounts to treason, promotes terrorism and further the remarks of (Asaduddin) Owaisi has boosted the morale of anti-nationals," Mr Sagar further alleged.

Mr Owaisi on Friday had said his party would provide legal help to the youths arrested by the NIA on charges of involvement in an alleged ISIS terror module, but asserted his party does not support terrorism.
