Girls Outperform Boys in CBSE Class 10 Exams, PM Modi Congratulates Students

New Delhi: Girls have outperformed boys in the Class 10 exams of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were announced earlier today.

The percentage of girls who have qualified stands at 97.82, while for boys it was 96.98, said officials.

The CBSE website temporarily crashed earlier in the day, which the officials said was due to the heavy traffic on the site.

A total of 94,474 students scored 10 CGPA (cumulative grade points average). Of these 49,392 were boys, and 45,082 were girls. In Delhi, 8,026 students scored 10 CGPA.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the students who have cleared the exam via twitter.However, there was a drop in the overall pass percentage of 97.32 this year, as compared to the 98.87 in the 2014.

Thiruvananthapuram region has the highest pass percentage in the country with 99.77 per cent students qualifying for the higher class.

The total number of registered candidates was 13,73,853 - an increase of 3.37 per cent over 2014 figure.
