Astronaut Posts Stunning Photo Of City From Space. New Delhi, Twitter Tells Him

Astronaut Thomas Pesquet's picture of New Delhi from space sent Twitter into a frenzy

New Delhi:

Around Monday midnight, European astronaut Thomas Pesquet tweeted a night-time picture of a city from space. However, he had no idea which one.

"This was my first night-time picture from space. A city at night, but I have no idea which one. Do you," posted the Frenchman, who is currently on a six-month mission to the International Space Station.

The post sent Twitter into a frenzy with many people trying to deduce the city captured in the image.

What many people guessed to be 'Paris', supposedly turned out to be New Delhi.

"This is New Delhi seen from North East. The bright and near city at 10 o'clock is Jaipur," replied a Twitter user who goes by the moniker @inderweltsein.

Anotheruser, @UlrichBeinert posted, "I was a bit late, but agree that it's definitely New Delhi."

Nearly 12 hours after he first posted the image, Pesquet tweeted and confirmed, "It turns out to be New Delhi, thanks for your detective work everybody."

"I took this picture while waiting for Houston mission control to find the answer to a question when we were repairing the toilet," the astronaut posted on his Flick page, adding that he hoped to get better in photography.
