9 killed, 60 injured in Pune blast

New Delhi: Latest reports say at least nine people were killed and 60 injured after a bomb in a knapsack exploded in the German Bakery across the road from the Jewish Chabad House and a stone's throw from the Osho Ashram.

After the blast took place at a German bakery in Pune last night, it was reported that one among the dead is a foreigner.

Pillai said among the injured, four are Iranians, two Sudanese, one Taiwanese, one German and two Nepalese.

About the explosion, he said, "We have to wait for the reports to come from the ground and we hope that something will come in the evening."

He said the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad is probing the incident and the National Investigation Agency would assist them.

The blast at the German Bakery in Pune on Saturday night has the government facing the same question from both the public and the Opposition: Given that this was seen as vulnerable to a terror attack, was enough done to keep it safe?
