Robbers Loot Jewellery Worth Crores In Chandigarh, Walk Off With CCTV Footage

The police and the forensic experts at the crime scene said the nearby CCTVs were being used to track the robbers.

Chandigarh: A jewellery showroom in the posh Sector 17 market of Chandigarh was today looted in daylight by a group of two women and a man. At gunpoint, the trio, who posed as customers, not only robbed jewellery worth crores, but also took the CCTV footage which could identify them.

'The gang had done a recce on Saturday and had booked a ring which they came to collect today,' said Rajnish Verma, owner of the showroom, adding that he was robbed of diamond jewelley worth crores and Rs 9 lakh in cash.

The armed gang rounded up the security guard and six staff members at the showroom, stuffed bags with the loot and left the scene. Nobody was hurt during the robbery.

The police and the forensic experts who reached the crime scene said the accused were being tracked. 'We have sounded alert on all entry points of the city, we are also trying to get data from nearby CCTV footage,' said Manish Choudhary, a senior official.
