His Body Cut In Half, Bengaluru Man Urged, 'Donate My Organs'

Harish Nanjappa, 24, died en route to the hospital in Benglauru.

Bangalore: In the minutes before he died, a young man urged that his eyes be donated, a plea that has moved thousands of people who are sharing his story on Facebook.

Harish Nanjappa, 24, was riding his motorcycle back into Bengaluru last week after a brief visit to his village when he was hit by a truck with such force that his body was split into two. For 20 minutes "he begged for help as passersby gathered around, taking photographs," reports The Bangalore Mirror.

"He reportedly not just screamed for help but also asked people 'to donate his organs'," says The Hindu.

An ambulance arrived eventually, but Mr Nanjappa, who worked in Bengaluru's famous Whitefield suburb, died en route to hospital.

Doctors said that because Mr Nanjappa was wearing a helmet, his eyes were not damaged and have been harvested.

The truck driver has been arrested, according to local media.
