Bengaluru Teen Hangs Herself After Allegedly Being Stripped, Photographed

The girl, who then hanged herself, has left behind a suicide note naming the people who stripped and photographed her.

Bengaluru: A 15-year-old girl in Bengaluru committed suicide earlier this week after allegedly being stripped and photographed by five people including relatives.

The girl's uncle says that a relative, along with others had been passing comments and teasing the girl for days.

"On the September 3, she was hit by the relative and four others," he said. The next day, the girl and her family went to the station but the police did not register a complaint, he alleged.

On Monday, September 5, the girl went to school to sit for an exam. "When she came back after writing her exam, the relative and his four friends forced her to take off her clothes and they took photos," the uncle said.

The girl, who then hanged herself, has left behind a suicide note naming the people who stripped and photographed her.

The police, however, have a different version of events. They say, a family feud turned ugly and ended in the death of the girl.

"On Saturday, the family had a fight late in the night after 9:30 pm. Somebody amongst them called the control room. Immediately police went to the spot and sorted out the issue," Vikash Kumar, a deputy commissioner of police, said.

The police officer said that most the relatives were drunk and could not be talked to. So the resolved the quarrel and left. But the next day, members of the family came to police station and a complaint was registered, he said.

"Next day, this was taken up seriously. Very unfortunate but at the very beginning, it was a family feud which turned into this direction, leading to the death of the 15-year-old girl," the Mr Kumar said.

"We have registered a case under relevant sections. The investigation is being headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police," he said.
