A special CBI court in Hyderabad today extended the judicial remand of jailed YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other accused in the disproportionate assets case till September 20.
The case relates to alleged quid-pro-quo investments in the companies owned by the Kadapa MP.
Mr Reddy, his auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy, former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and bureaucrat KV Brahmananda Reddy, all of whom are lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison were produced before the court through video-conference which extended their judicial remand by 14 days.
Mr Reddy, who was recently shifted back to Chanchalguda jail from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) after his treatment following his indefinite fast against the move to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on May 27 last year on corruption charges and has been lodged there since.
Former Andhra ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and Sabitha Reddy, both accused in the case, also appeared before the court.
Meanwhile, a group of pro-Telangana lawyers tried to stop Mr Rao's vehicle in the Nampally court premises, raising slogans in support of the statehood demand but police immediately dispersed them.
The disproportionate case relates to alleged investments made by private firms and individual investors in Mr Reddy's companies as a quid-pro-quo for government favours when his father, late YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the chief minister.
The court, meanwhile, also extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and other accused in the case pertaining to alleged illegal mining involving his OMC firm, till September 20 after they were produced through video-link from the Chanchalguda jail.
Last week, the CBI had questioned Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy in connection the case against Mr Reddy about the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) land allotment.
