Accused in RSS Worker's Murder Case Surrenders in Kerala's Kannur

The RSS had demanded an investigation by a central agency.

Kannur: One of the accused allegedly involved in the murder of E Manoj, a worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS whose death had intensified political tensions in Kerala's Kannur district, surrendered on Thursday night. Mr Manjor was killed on September 1; the RSS had alleged that Mr Manoj was hacked to death by activists of the Communist Party of India - Marxist or CPI (M). (RSS Worker Killed in Kannur as Amit Shah Visits Kerala)

The accused, who allegedly is closely affiliated with the CPI (M), surrendered before the Magistrate's court in Kannur today.

The police had earlier issued a look-out notice against him.

The party had distanced itself from the murder and claimed that the party had nothing to do with the incident.

The RSS had demanded an investigation by a central agency into the murder.

The offices of the RSS and the CPI(M) in Kannur are dotted with pictures of their workers who have allegedly been "martyrs" to the political rivalry between the two outfits.

A murder case had been registered against eight people, all allegedly affiliated to the CPI (M).
