If you get an honour you think you don't deserve, it's still very pleasant: Amartya Sen

New Delhi: World-renowned economist Amartya Sen was the first of India's 25 greatest global Indian living legends honoured at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this evening.

After accepting his award from President Pranab Mukherjee, the Nobel laureate said he was "extremely honoured, deeply grateful, quite overwhelmed."

"The first thing to say, if you get an honour and recognition you think you do not deserve, it is still very pleasant. Second when it comes from someone you greatly admire, President of a country which we are proud, it is even more pleasant. Nicer to hear wise things being said by others rather than yourself," he said.
