Two Turkish men held with fake currency worth Rs. 1.54 crore
New Delhi: Two Turkish nationals have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for carrying very high quality fake Indian currency worth Rs. 1.54 crore. They were also carrying fake US dollars.

The two men were driving around in a bus which started from Turkey, crossed Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and went to Bangladesh. Sources say the fake currency was most likely picked up from Bangladesh.

The DRI has said that the currency operation was being handled by Iqbal Qana - a Pakistan based-Indian National from Uttar Pradesh. He is said to be close to the Dawood Group and is one of the key people behind producing and distributing fake Indian currency.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is now considering shifting the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and has asked for the DRI charge-sheet.
