Panaji: Goa's Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Manohar Parrikar today said his government will ensure justice in the alleged rape case against Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal.

The Chief Minister was responding to accusations of witch-hunt leveled by the supporters of Mr Tejpal, whose magazine had conducted a sting operation against former BJP president Bangaru Laxman a decade ago, forcing the party's first Dalit president to quit his post.

Tarun Tejpal is accused of raping his 28-year-old colleague during an event in Goa last month. Mr Parrikar today said the chargesheet in the sexual assault case will be filed in 30 to 45 days.

The 50-year-old Tehelka founder, who is on a six-day police custody since Sunday, was taken for a second round of medical tests in Panaji today.

His first medical examination was done on Monday at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, where various tests, including his potency examination, was conducted.

Mr Tejpal was arrested on Saturday after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a court in Goa.

In another development today, Shoma Chaudhary, who quit as Managing Editor of Tehelka last week, has been summoned by the Goa police to record her statement in a court there about the case of rape that has engulfed the news magazine. A date has not been fixed yet for her deposition.
