Lucknow:
A nine-year-old girl was found dead in a field on the outskirts of Lucknow on Tuesday. Police suspect the girl was raped before she was killed.
The daughter of a brick kiln worker from Bihar had gone to see a play near her home in Sirsodhi village in Barabanki district but did not return, Lucknow's Inspector General of Police (IG) Subhash Chandra told IANS.
Her body, with marks of wounds, was found when her family was planning to lodge a complaint with the police.
Mr Chandra said prima facie it was a case of murder after rape.
"The body has been sent for autopsy and we are trying to map the movement of suspicious persons from the village," an official said.
