Israel's defence minister said Sunday that his country would respond powerfully to any attack by Iran, after Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted an Iranian missile launched towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba.

"If Iran fires missiles at Israel, we will attack them with full force," Israel Katz said during a visit to a rescue service facility. 

"If the United States changes its policy, which is also something that could happen, we are prepared for both defensive and offensive" action against Tehran, he added.

Aqaba lies just across the border from the Israeli city of Eilat.

Later, Israeli military chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir also vowed to retaliate with "determination" if Iran attacked Israel.

"We monitored today's launch toward the Aqaba area, and our Aerial Defence Array remains on alert to protect Israeli civilians," Zamir told military commanders in the occupied West Bank, according to a statement issued by the military.

"We are prepared to immediately resume combat and will act with great determination against anyone who harms us."

Air raid sirens sounded in the tiny Gulf kingdom of Bahrain on Sunday as Iran and the United States traded fresh strikes over control of the vital Strait of Hormuz.

"The siren has been sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place," the interior ministry said in a statement, while an AFP journalist confirmed sirens had rung out in Bahrain's capital Manama.

Kuwait's military said on Sunday it was responding to aerial salvos fired by Iran a day after the Gulf state faced barrages from the Islamic republic that struck a power plant and oil facility.

"Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks, following the sinful Iranian aggression," the army said in a statement, as an AFP journalist reported warning sirens sounding in Kuwait City.

The US military said Saturday that it carried out an eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, with targets including units behind the attack that killed two American troops in Jordan.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it struck Iranian military facilities and "targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces that launched attacks against U.S. service members in Jordan on July 17."

Iran's army said on Sunday it had targeted two US bases in Kuwait with drones in response to American attacks on Iranian territory.

The Islamic republic's army said it carried out "large-scale attacks with kamikaze drones against the U.S. military's ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and the Patriot radar system and air surveillance radar at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait", according to a statement carried by the state broadcaster.

The United States on Sunday launched new strikes to "punish" Iran after two American soldiers were killed in Tehran's attack on Jordan.

The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) said the eighth consecutive night of strikes was to "swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night."

The strikes, ordered by US President Donald Trump, were "designed to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said on X.

Hardliners argue that Iran's leaders are sidelining parliament, ignoring the supreme leader's instructions during negotiations with the US and weakening the country's revolutionary institutions.

Iran on Saturday struck infrastructure in the Gulf and threatened a "full-scale offensive" in retaliation for the seventh consecutive night of US strikes on the Islamic republic.

A month after they agreed a preliminary deal aimed at ending their war, fighting has intensified, with Tehran accusing Washington of hitting an airport, railway station and bridges.

Iran retaliated Saturday with strikes on an oil facility in Kuwait as well as a power and water plant, authorities in the Gulf state said, while in Bahrain the army said air defences repelled a wave of Iranian attacks.

"Iran will no longer limit itself to retaliatory, like-for-like responses... and no political border will be safe," said Major General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior military adviser to Iran's supreme leader, according to state media.

A week after the United States and Iran signed a preliminary deal aimed at ending the war, an Iranian drone slammed into a cargo ship sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.

There were no casualties or major damage, but the June 25 attack set off a chain of hostilities that would put the two countries on a path back toward all-out war less than a month after they agreed to stop fighting.

Each strike and counterstrike chipped away at the pillars of the agreement, which has now collapsed, though there are still efforts to salvage it. Red lines set by both sides have been crossed. A return to full-scale war that would further destabilize the Middle East and disrupt the world economy appears increasingly likely.

Bahrain activated its air sirens for a second time on Saturday, warning residents to shelter after it detected possible incoming drones or missiles.

The Gulf states have come under frequent fire from Iran over the past week as tensions continue to ramp up between the US and Iran.

Bahrain's army said its air defences repelled on Saturday a wave of Iranian attacks, as an AFP journalist in Manama reported hearing blasts after sirens sounded.

"Air defence systems thwarted" the attacks, the army said in a statement, adding that they "intercepted and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian aerial assaults".

Kuwait on Saturday said Iran struck another of its power and water plants, leading to the deactivation of several power generation units, a day after a similar attack.

"Another electricity and water distillation plant was targeted by a hostile attack that led to a fire erupting in one of the plant's components," which resulted in the deactivation of some power generation units, the ministry of electricity and water said in a statement.

Iran's army said it struck US military targets in Kuwait and Jordan in response to American attacks, according to a statement carried by the Iranian state broadcaster on Saturday.

In Kuwait, Iranian forces targeted an ammunition depot in the Al-Adiri camp, the headquarters buildings and ammunition depots in the Ali Al-Salem base and several communication bridges.

In Jordan, fuel tanks at the Al-Azraq base were also targeted, the state broadcaster said on Telegram.

US attacks killed three people and wounded eight in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, state news agency IRNA reported on Saturday.

"The deputy political, security and social affairs governor of Hormozgan announced the martyrdom of three people and the injury of eight people following enemy attacks on some parts of Hormozgan province this morning," IRNA said on Telegram.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Saturday they had "stopped" four ships trying to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

"In the past hours, four violating ships with the support of the terrorist US army were trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, and all four ships were stopped in place during a combined missile and drone operation," the Guards said in a statement carried by the state broadcaster.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Saturday that two oil tankers transiting through the Strait of Hormuz hit mines and exploded, according to a statement published by state news agency IRNA.

"An hour ago, two oil tankers, which were trying to pass through the minefield south of the Strait of Hormuz by deceptive American intelligence agencies, exploded and caught fire," the Guards said in their statement.

Five explosions were heard in the early hours of Saturday in Yazd, in central Iran, the state news agency IRNA reported, after the US military announced a seventh night of strikes against the country.

Another Iranian news agency, Mehr, reported that explosions were heard "in several provinces in the south" of Iran.

Tehran is ready to resume "full-scale offensive operations" if US strikes against it continue for another two or three days, a senior military advisor to Iran's supreme leader warned Friday.

US forces launched strikes against Iran for a seventh night in a row on Friday, the US military said.

US President Donald Trump held a high-level meeting in the White House Situation Room on Tuesday night, where senior officials discussed several military options, such as attacking Iranian power plants and carrying out attacks against nuclear facilities to bury its uranium deeper underground.

"The Americans are drawing closer by the moment to the zero hour of an operation by Iran's Armed Forces against CENTCOM naval units in the region's waters," a statement carried by Iranian state television said.

Highlighting that the situation in West Asia continues to remain volatile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday stated that 14 Indian seafarers have lost their lives so far and two remain missing during the escalating conflict in the region.

Addressing the bi-weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that a large number of Indian seafarers work in West Asia and ensuring their safety as well as keeping them alert about potential risks remains a top priority.

On the advisory issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Jaiswal said, "I have also seen the advisory. As you know, the situation in West Asia remains unstable, and it has been issued keeping that in view. A large number of Indian seafarers work in the region, and it is our responsibility to ensure their safety and alert them to potential risks. You asked how many Indian seafarers have been affected by the conflict. I do not have the exact number of seafarers at this moment, but I can tell you that, so far, 14 Indian nationals have lost their lives in the conflict in West Asia and two Indian nationals remain missing."

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Thursday (local time) said it had carried out a fresh wave of military strikes against Iranian targets, marking the sixth consecutive night of US operations against Iran.

In a statement, CENTCOM said, "Today at 9:40 p.m. ET, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed its latest major wave of strikes against Iran."

According to the statement, US forces, including fighter jets, aerial drones and warships, launched precision-guided munitions against "dozens of Iranian military targets", including coastal surveillance and air defence sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities.

The army's chief of staff "visited several wounded members of the Kuwaiti land forces", it said in a press statement.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Friday that they had targeted US radar systems and military aircraft in Qatar.

Drone and rocket strikes killed nine members of an Iranian Kurdish armed opposition group in Iraq's Kurdistan region on Friday, the exiled party said, blaming the attack on Iran.

In Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, the US-led anti-jihadist coalition shot down several drones in the second such incident in the city this week.

The attacks, which the Kurdish government also blamed on Tehran, come against the backdrop of renewed military escalation between the United States and Iran, Iraq's main allies.

During the Middle East war, the Kurdistan region, which hosts US troops and foreign oil companies as well as exiled Iranian Kurdish rebels, has been a target for attacks carried out by Iran and pro-Iran Iraqi armed groups.

The commander of the Aerospace Force in Iran's Revolutionary Guards vowed Friday that Tehran would not halt its attacks in the region until the US stopped striking Iran's southern coastline and the Strait of Hormuz.

In a social media post, Majid Mousavi said "Tehran and the south are one and indivisible as Iran", adding that "effective and targeted strikes from across Iran against the enemy will continue" until attacks on "the southern coastline and the Strait of Hormuz" cease.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Friday that they had targeted US radar systems and military aircraft in Qatar to "punish the aggressor" following overnight US strikes on Iran.

"In continuation of last night's retaliatory operations, the brave fighters of the IRGC's Aerospace Force... carried out a heavy and surprise attack on the US airbase at al-Udeid, Qatar, to punish the aggressor and the child-killing US military," the IRGC said in a statement.

The IRGC said they had also attacked a US special operations command centre at al-Tanf in Syria in retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr, state media reported.

Iran has also called on Jordanians to target "the interests of the aggressive and anti-Islamic Americans" in their country.

Iran has said that it had struck US military aircraft stationed in Jordan with ballistic missiles and drones in retaliation for overnight American strikes.
