US-Iran War News Live Updates: The US carried out its eighth consecutive night of strikes on Iran on Sunday, aiming to punish Tehran after American deaths in Jordan two days earlier. CENTCOM said the raids were designed to "swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night."

Iran responded within hours. Its army said it struck two US bases in Kuwait with drones, hitting an ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and Patriot radar systems at Ali Al Salem Air Base. Bahrain's military said it "confronted, intercepted, and destroyed many treacherous Iranian aerial attacks," accusing Tehran of targeting civilians.

In Jordan, sirens sounded as Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted an Iranian missile heading towards the port city of Aqaba, after the US embassy in Amman had warned of a "specific and credible threat" to the city's port and airport.

Iran War Live: US And Iran Have Blown Past Red Lines As They Lurch Back Toward All-Out War

A week after the United States and Iran signed a preliminary deal aimed at ending the war, an Iranian drone slammed into a cargo ship sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.

There were no casualties or major damage, but the June 25 attack set off a chain of hostilities that would put the two countries on a path back toward all-out war less than a month after they agreed to stop fighting.

Each strike and counterstrike chipped away at the pillars of the agreement, which has now collapsed, though there are still efforts to salvage it. Red lines set by both sides have been crossed. A return to full-scale war that would further destabilize the Middle East and disrupt the world economy appears increasingly likely.
