Press Freedom Under Attack in Bangladesh: NDTV Reports From Burnt 'Daily Star' Building

The charred remains of The Daily Star's seven-storey office in Dhaka tell a disturbing story of rising threats to press freedom in Bangladesh.

On the night of December 18, a mob of nearly 150–200 people, reportedly supporters of Osman Hadi, stormed the premises, vandalised the building and set it on fire. At least 28 staff members were inside the newsroom when the attack began. Six floors were gutted by the blaze, forcing journalists to take shelter on the rooftop before being rescued by security forces.
