Delhi News | 3 Minors, 3 Cases: Delhi Women’s Safety Under Scrutiny

Three separate cases of alleged sexual violence involving minors have brought renewed scrutiny on women’s and children’s safety in Delhi over the past week. In Sadar Bazaar, police say a minor was allegedly lured into a tailor’s shop and sexually assaulted, with the accused arrested and sent to judicial custody. In the Desh Bandhu Gupta Road area, a six-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a 34-year-old man known locally, who has been taken into custody. Meanwhile, near Kalkaji Temple, a 17-year-old survivor has alleged that three men posing as police personnel threatened her and sexually assaulted her. Police have apprehended one accused after a brief encounter and are searching for the other two. While these are separate investigations and there is no indication they are connected, the cases have raised questions over the protection of vulnerable minors, policing and safeguards in public spaces across the national capital.
