Woman Shares How She Planned A 7-Day Egypt Trip Under Rs 1 Lakh

Egypt has long been a dream destination for travellers fascinated by ancient history. You get to explore the Great Pyramid of Giza, cruise along the Nile, wander through bustling local markets and soak in the country's unique culture.  A trip to Egypt can also seem expensive when you factor in flights, accommodation, food and sightseeing. 

One traveller has shared how she managed to plan her Egypt holiday on a budget of under Rs 1 lakh. In an Instagram video, content creator Esha shared a detailed breakdown of her expenses, revealing how she managed to explore three cities across Egypt in just seven days.

Esha's week-long Egypt itinerary covered three destinations - Cairo, Hurghada and Luxor. She began in Cairo, where she explored the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The influencer then headed to Hurghada for its beaches and scuba-diving experiences before travelling to Luxor, where her itinerary included the Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut.

Cost Breakdown 

The biggest expense of Esha's trip was the return flight from Mumbai to Egypt, which cost around Rs 40,000 per person. The influencer said she booked the tickets two months in advance. She also spent approximately Rs 2,300 on an e-visa and Rs 1,500 on a local SIM card. 

For six nights of accommodation, Esha spent around Rs 18,000 per person, with the cost calculated on a sharing basis. She allocated another Rs 6,000 for transportation which covered a mix of Uber rides and buses during the trip.

The sightseeing expenses came to around Rs 4,200, covering tickets for the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. She also spent Rs 4,000 on a scuba-diving experience in Hurghada. The Luxor day trip, which included visits to some of the city's major historical sites, cost approximately Rs 10,000.

Food was another relatively manageable expense as Esha spent around Rs 6,000 throughout the seven-day trip. After adding up flights, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, activities, food and other expenses, her total Egypt trip cost came to approximately Rs 85,000. 

For travellers planning a similar trip, Esha suggested booking tickets for Egypt's official monuments directly through the country's official ticketing platform rather than relying on third-party websites. She also recommended planning the trip yourself rather than relying on third-party agents. 

Esha's itinerary shows that exploring Egypt's iconic sights, beaches and ancient wonders can be done on a budget.
