Some film locations are simply more than just shooting spots. They turn into timeless symbols etched in the memories of generations of movie lovers. One such place is Apta Railway Station in Maharashtra, where the iconic Raj and Simran eloping scene from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was filmed over three decades ago. Actor Anupam Kher recently revisited the location after 32 years. The veteran star urged the Maharashtra government to preserve and develop the site as a tourist destination.

In a video shared on Instagram, Anupam Kher was seen walking on the train platform. The actor said, "I've come to a railway station where an iconic scene of an iconic film was shot 32 years ago. It is Indian cinema's history that every Indian all over the world must have seen and remembered."

He recalled the particular scene where Amrish Puri delivered his iconic line, “Ja, Simran, ja, jee le apni zindagi.” Kher also mentioned the fight sequence that took place between Shah Rukh Khan's character and some goons. The actor compared the experience of visiting the train station to witnessing the filming location of The Godfather in Sicily. He expressed gratitude to Aditya Chopra, Yash Chopra and everyone involved for making him a part of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

In the caption, Anupam Kher wrote in Hindi, "It was a deeply emotional and nostalgic experience to be shooting at the same location 32 years later... where we shot the iconic Raj and Simran scene from #DilwaleDulhaniaLeJayenge. It felt like so many years had passed. Even today, standing there (Apta Station, District Raigarh, Maharashtra), it felt as if time had stopped for a moment."

The actor expressed a sincere wish for the Maharashtra government to develop the site as a tourist destination. "Such film locations around the world become a part of people's memories and emotions. This heritage of cinema should be preserved with the same respect here, too," he concluded.
