The Vande Bharat, known for its short daytime routes, has now extended to overnight journeys with sleeper berths. Its special design has left travellers amazed. In a now-viral Instagram video, a traveller named Ruchi Trivedi recorded her personal experience on the train, which has recently launched its sleeper class services on the Howrah-Kamakhya route. Clearly impressed by the arrangements, she can be seen giving a virtual tour of the sleeper second AC coach.
The sleeper coach is modern and features specific elements for privacy and comfort, including beige curtains and soft, ambient overhead lighting to create a calm atmosphere. Additionally, each berth is equipped with individual touch-based or personalised reading lamps for passenger convenience.

Next, Ruchi talks about the brand-new blankets in two colours: a blue-green one and another in soft light tones, featuring soft prints alongside the Indian Railways emblem. The blankets now also have customised covers for better comfort. Talking about her overall experience, she shares, “It feels good to see it for the first time,” adding, “My personal experience is good, of course."
The video, however, also comes with a disclaimer: “Keep in mind the civic sense. Let the train be shining like this. This is our responsibility too.”
The traveller captions it: “A changed face of Indian Railways with World-Class interior, Well-lit Cabins, spacious modern toilets, New Blankets and printed blanket covers instead of white sheets. Overall, the experience as a traveller onboard felt no less than an international train trip in India.”

Ruchi Trivedi also took us inside the advanced lavatories/toilets of the Vande Bharat Express Sleeper Train. In another video posted on Instagram, she reveals the features of the restrooms, which include:
- Bio-vacuum toilets for track-friendly waste treatment
- Odour control and deodorisation systems
- Sensor/touchless taps for water dispensing
- Anti-spill toilet seats and basins
- Hot water showers (available in 1st AC coaches only)
- UV disinfection and RO-purified water
- Spacious, ergonomic layouts with premium fittings
- Anti-bacterial surfaces and mirrors
- Liquid soap dispensers (sensor-based)

The premium, semi-high-speed train now operates between Howrah and Kamakhya with 16 coaches. It covers the approximately 1000 km route between Kamakhya and Howrah (West Bengal and Assam) in a 14-hour overnight journey.
