1. In-depth exploration becomes possible:

Walking helps you get a more intimate experience of exploring a place. It allows you to connect with people, local traditions, historic architecture and much more. You can get a taste of the everyday rhythm in a way that travelling by a vehicle doesn't allow you. Moreover, you may also make unexpected discoveries if you allow yourself to wander freely.

2. Spend less on travel:

If a city has a high walkability score, you don't have to worry much about car rentals and parking in the main areas. This can save you a lot of money. Go sightseeing on foot and eat at local food joints.

3. Save time during vacation:

Not having to worry about a vehicle also means you can save time, which is extra precious during a vacation. It's more convenient to walk around, especially if the streets are narrower and more bustling than usual.

If there are fewer cars, overall air and sound pollution would be lower. You can breathe in clear, fresh air - generally considered a luxury in most cities. You might also find more green spaces around, since roads/parking are not as much of a priority.

5. Enjoy safe, well-equipped streets:

Some walkable cities tend to have well-designed pedestrian infrastructure. Smooth sidewalks and slower car traffic mean you can roam around in a relaxed manner.

6. Walking becomes a natural workout:

If the overall design of a city is meant to encourage walking, you might also feel more inclined to do so. Staying active like this, in a natural way, can boost both mental and physical health. Who said workouts couldn't include sightseeing?
