- Newlyweds are now planning two trips: a short mini-moon and a longer big-moon after the wedding
- Mini-moons last 3-5 nights and help couples recover from wedding stress quickly
- Big-moons are planned months later for deeper, personalised, and immersive travel experiences
A honeymoon feels like a breather after the wedding chaos. No wonder, newlyweds eagerly await escaping into the calm of the mountains or the ease of the beach. As per a latest report, the newly married couples are now planning not one, but two vacations, post the wedding festivities. One is a quick and short escapade for a few days called 'mini-moon', while the other is the traditional long holiday, aka the 'big-moon'. This revelation comes from Indian travel platform Thrillophilia.
Thrillophilia's Honeymoon Travel Report 2025-26 highlights that newlyweds are embracing a mini-moon of 3-5 nights soon after the wedding, followed by a long-stretched and immersive big-moon. The report further mentions that mini-moon trips are on the rise, with 18 per cent year-on-year, marking a significant shift in how married individuals wish to travel and celebrate their first year together.

Why Are Newlyweds Choosing Mini-Moons?
The Thrillophilia report shares that an experience-rich mini-moon allows newlyweds to recover immediately after the rush of wedding festivities. Not only can they avoid taking long leaves, but couples also do not have to navigate complex logistics.
Meanwhile, the big-moon, planned a few months after the marriage, enables the couple to embark on a deeper and more experiential journey. It gives them the time to think about their mutual travel preferences, whether it's an off-beat destination, an international holiday or a nature-focused sojourn. They can personalise the trip, agree on a budget and truly unwind.
When combined, the mini-moon and big-moon are the two significant phases that are redefining the meaning of luxury and intimacy for modern Indian couples.
