According to legend, Barbarik possessed three powerful arrows with extraordinary abilities. Before the Mahabharata war, he vowed to support the weaker side in the battle. Lord Krishna realised that Barbarik's participation could significantly alter the outcome of the war. To prevent this, Krishna asked Barbarik to sacrifice his head. Barbarik willingly agreed, and his sacrifice came to symbolise devotion and righteousness.

It is believed that Lord Krishna granted Barbarik a boon, declaring that he would be worshipped in the Kali Yuga as Shyam. This is why devotees revere him as Khatu Shyam Ji and call him 'Hare Ka Sahara', meaning the supporter of those who have lost hope.

Best Time To Visit Khatu Shyam Temple

Devotees visit Khatu Shyam Temple throughout the year, but some occasions are considered especially auspicious.

The annual Falgun Mela is the temple's most famous celebration and attracts a massive number of pilgrims. The spiritual atmosphere during this period is truly remarkable.

Apart from the Falgun Mela, Ekadashi and Dwadashi are also considered highly auspicious days for darshan, drawing large crowds.

How To Reach Khatu Shyam Temple

By Train

Travellers from Delhi can take direct trains from New Delhi or Delhi Sarai Rohilla to Ringas Junction. The journey takes around four hours. From Ringas Junction, the temple is approximately 17 km away. Taxis, shared jeeps, buses and e-rickshaws are readily available to reach the temple.

By Road

The distance between Delhi and Khatu Shyam is approximately 300 km. The journey takes around five to six hours via the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48) or the Manesar-Narnaul route. Travellers can drive or hire a taxi or bus for the trip.

By Air

Jaipur International Airport is the nearest airport to Khatu Shyam Temple and is located around 80 km away. From the airport, visitors can hire a taxi or take a bus via Ringas to reach the temple.
