Emirates, Etihad And Qatar Airways Slowly Resume Flights After Airspace Reopens

Airlines across the Gulf region are preparing to restore full flight services after operating limited schedules and facing travel restrictions following the latest conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Carriers such as Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways are gradually ramping up their operations. This is expected to make travel more convenient for passengers and improve connectivity across key destinations, including the UK, India, and the US.

Flight Operations Return To Normal Across West Asia

Emirates is currently operating at around 60% of its route network, with 106 daily flights to 83 destinations. The airline expects to return to full capacity soon, subject to airspace availability and operational conditions. For now, Emirates is prioritising passengers with existing bookings. Travellers are advised to go to the airport only if they have confirmed reservations.

Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi is also returning to normal operations. The airline has resumed limited flights to more than 70 destinations and plans to expand its network further in the coming days. Both passengers with pre-existing bookings and new customers are being accommodated, provided flights meet safety regulations.

Qatar Airways has begun operating repatriation flights from Doha. The airline is flying to London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Madrid-Barajas, Rome Fiumicino, and Frankfurt. These flights prioritise passengers stranded due to the conflict, particularly those with urgent medical needs or family obligations.

Impact On Regional Flights

Several other airlines across the region are also feeling the impact of the conflict. British Airways has resumed flights from Muscat, Oman to London Heathrow, with scheduled services operating from March 9-12. Finnair is assisting stranded passengers by arranging special flights from Muscat to Helsinki.

Air Arabia has launched limited flights to various destinations, including Austria, Egypt, India, and Italy. Air France and KLM are extending their flight suspensions due to continued airspace disruptions. Airlines such as Saudia, Gulf Air, and Wizz Air have been forced to cancel or reduce operations in the region. Saudia suspended flights to and from Amman, Dubai, and other destinations until March 6, while Wizz Air has halted operations to Israel, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia.
