- Egypt has raised visa‑on‑arrival fees by 20% for eligible international travellers from March 1.
- The fee hike does not affect Indian passport holders, who must apply for visas in advance.
- Visa validity and stay duration remain unchanged despite the higher arrival cost.
Travellers planning a trip to Egypt may need to account for a slightly higher cost on arrival, as the country has revised its visa‑on‑arrival fee from March 1, 2026. The change applies to international visitors who are eligible for visas issued at the airport and is part of Egypt's efforts to streamline entry charges amid rising tourist numbers. However, the update does not impact Indian passport holders, who are generally required to obtain a visa in advance and are not covered under the standard visa‑on‑arrival category. As per Travel + Leisure Asia, the revision was announced by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and applies only to visas issued upon arrival.

What Is The Revised Visa Fee?
Under the new structure, travellers opting for a single‑entry visa on arrival must now pay USD 30, up from the earlier USD 25. At current exchange rates, the revised fee works out to approximately ₹2,750, compared to around ₹2,300 earlier. The visa continues to allow a 30‑day stay and is valid for a single entry into the country.
How The New Charge Is Being Applied

Egypt has not introduced a new visa sticker despite the fee increase. Instead, travellers will continue to receive the existing USD 25 visa sticker, along with an additional USD 5 surcharge sticker at immigration counters. This combined approach reflects the updated total without altering the base visa format. As per reports, the surcharge method is already being implemented at Egyptian entry points.
Visa Options That Remain Unchanged
The fee hike applies only to the visa‑on‑arrival category. Other application routes remain unaffected. Travellers who apply through Egypt's official e‑visa portal, or those obtaining visas from Egyptian embassies and consulates, will continue to pay the existing charges.
The price of a multiple‑entry visa, currently set at USD 60 (roughly ₹5,500), has also not been revised. The adjustment comes amid a strong rebound in Egypt's tourism sector. As per Ahram Online, the country welcomed close to 19 million tourists in 2025, making it one of the strongest years for inbound travel.

Officials have indicated that the revised visa fee forms part of broader efforts to manage entry procedures and support tourism infrastructure as visitor volumes grow.
For travellers planning upcoming trips, the change means accounting for a slightly higher arrival cost, while visa validity, stay duration and alternative application options remain the same.
