Kanpur Train Accident: Several Mail, Express Trains Of Eastern Railway Diverted

Over 40 people have been injured after 15 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer Express derailed near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh early this morning, two of the coaches falling into a dry canal bed, police said. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

Santosh Upadhyay boarded the train in Ujjain at 3 pm on Saturday and was on his way to Kanpur. In Bhopal, a woman who boarded the train, requested him to swap seats as she wanted to travel with a friend in S2. Mr Upadhyay agreed and moved to S5 around 10:30 pm.

Youth dies trying to board moving train

A 21-year-old died when he slipped and fell on the tracks while attempting to board a moving train at a railway station here, police said today. Rahul Dikshit, a polytechnic student, was trying to board the Banda Express when he slipped, Police said. Dikshit's both legs were cut off in the accident.
