The enforcement agencies of the state and the Centre have seized cash, gold, liquor, drugs, and freebies worth Rs 603 crore since the release of the schedule for the upcoming Telangana elections, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said.

With 608 candidates withdrawing their nominations, as many as 2,290 contestants are in the fray for the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said on Thursday.

Unaccounted cash to the tune of over Rs 20 crore and 31.9 kg gold was seized at various places in Telangana after the model code of conduct came into force on October 9.

According to a late night communication from the Chief Electoral Officer, the total voting stood at 93.13 per cent excluding 686 postal ballots.

The Congress in Telangana on Wednesday urged the State Chief Electoral Officer to provide details of polling percentage up to 5 pm in four parliamentary constituencies in the Lok Sabha polls held in the state on April 11.
