Higher provisioning for bad assets hurt Bank of Baroda's third quarter profits, sending its shares down by nearly 5 per cent on Monday. Bank of Baroda, India's second largest public sector lender by market capitalisation, said net profit declined 21.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,012 crore against Rs 1,290 crore in the year ago period.

Shares in Punjab National Bank plunged over 5 per cent on Friday after the public sector lender reported disappointing numbers for the July-September quarter. PNB said net profit slipped to Rs 1,065 crore against Rs 1,205 crore a year ago. Net interest income rose to Rs 3,649 crore against Rs 3,453 crore last year.
