Cyclone Burevi Updates: Today the cyclonic storm is 470 km east-southeast of Pamban and 650 km east of Kanniyakumari. Cyclone Burevi likely to hit south Tamil Nadu and Kerala coast on December 4. Relief teams have already "reached most locations", the NDRF tweeted.

Cyclonic storm Gaja will cross Tamil Nadu coast between Cuddalore and Pamban on November 15, bringing heavy rainfall coupled with gale wind, the Met office said Monday as the state government put its machinery on alert and kept on standby 30,500 rescue personnel.

Naval barge that collided into century-old bridge near Tamil Nadu coast removed

A naval barge that collided with the century-old Pamban Rail Bridge near Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu this morning has been removed and taken to sea. However, the tug vessel that it adrift from still remains aground; rescue operations are on.

A 19-year-old boy drowned when a ship allegedly collided with a country boat in which he was fishing along with four others in the sea off Tamil Nadu's Pamban coast in the wee hours, police said.While Calvin drowned, Santhia, Aruldass, Sinnasi and Devoss who were also in the boat were rescued by fishermen of another boat in the sea, they said.
