Rajasthan SI Recruitment Exam 2021: In a significant ruling, the Rajasthan High Court's division bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, today upheld the single-judge bench decision to cancel the 2021 Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination.

However, the court set aside the suo motu cognizance taken by the single bench against Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) members.

Advocate Harendra Neel, representing the petitioners, said, "The division bench maintained the single-judge ruling, stating that the comments made by the single bench against RPSC members were justified. The court also stated that shortlisting the recruitment at this stage is no longer feasible; therefore, the SI recruitment 2021 exam will remain cancelled."

The notification for the SI 2021 recruitment was issued on February 3, 2021, for 859 posts. The examination was conducted from September 13 to 15, 2021, with nearly 7.97 lakh candidates applying.

Around 3.8 lakh candidates appeared for the written exam, of which 20,359 cleared the physical test, and 3,291 were selected for interviews. The final results were declared on June 1, 2023.

The recruitment process had faced widespread allegations of malpractice. The Special Operations Group (SOG) was assigned to investigate, and the probe revealed the involvement of senior RPSC officials. The issue also gained political attention, leading to the arrest of RPSC members Ramuram Raika and Babulal Katra.

Following these developments, a petition to cancel the recruitment exam was filed on August 13, 2024. After extended hearings, a single-judge bench of the High Court cancelled the exam on August 28, 2025. Selected SI candidates challenged this decision before the division bench, which on September 8 temporarily stayed the single-judge ruling.

Petitioners then approached the Supreme Court, which on September 24 upheld the single-judge verdict and directed the High Court's division bench to deliver its final judgment within three months. The Supreme Court also stayed the field postings of the selected SI candidates.
