A total of 1,513 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been recorded in the country so far with Maharashtra and Karnataka registering the highest number of cases of the variant, according to INSACOG on Sunday.

The JN.1 patients include five from Thane, two from Pune city, and one each from a rural pocket of Pune district, Akola city and Sindhudurg

A 41-year-old man has tested positive for new COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, said health department officials on Wednesday evening.
