Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao on Monday vowed to continue and intensify the agitation for a separate Telangana state.

Making the concluding speech at the two-day protest in Hyderabad, he announced that 'chalo assembly' (march to assembly) would be organised during the budget session of the house.

KCR, as Mr Rao is popularly known, said the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) would soon announce an action plan to intensify the agitation.

Hitting hard at the Congress for betraying the people of Telangana repeatedly, the TRS leader hinted at the possibility of joining hands with any non-Congress alliance to achieve the goal of separate state.

He accused the Congress of going back on its promise despite his offer to merge the TRS with it.

The TRS chief said the agitation for a separate state was on for 55 years and would continue till the goal was achieved.

"The Congress has become a curse for Telangana. First it was Nehru, then Indira Gandhi killed people and now Sonia Gandhi is crushing us," he said and wondered whether India was a democratic country.

Reiterating his allegation that Andhra leaders "robbed" Telangana of its water, jobs and money, he said Telangana's revenue was three times more than the Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh but the money was being spent in Andhra. "Death is better than this life of slavery," he remarked.

Training his guns on ministers from Telangana, KCR said if they had any shame they should quit their posts and party to fight for carving out a Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.
