Andhra Pradesh student returning from exam dies in bus after heat-stroke
Hyderabad: A student died after suffering a heat stroke in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh earlier this week.

On Thursday, the temperature recorded in Karimnagar was 46 degree Celsius. 18-year-old Rajesh Reddy, who was on his way home after an exam, died after suffering a heat-stroke while seated next to a window in a bus.

Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing intense heat over the last week, with temperatures touching 48 degrees Celsius in some parts of the state. The heat has claimed several lives, especially in Telangana, Guntur and Prakasam.

According to the disaster commissioner's office, 274 people have died in the months of April and May this year, with 43 deaths reported in Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. 450 heat-related deaths were reported in the state last year.

The death toll due to heat-related incidents is expected to go up further as reports from several districts have not yet reached the capital.

The families of people who lost their lives due to heat-related causes will receive a compensation of Rs 50,000, which can be claimed after submitted an FIR and the autopsy report.

The MeT department has attributed the heat wave to hot winds blowing from Rajasthan and it has warned that the condition would continue for the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department has advised people to stay indoors between 12 noon and 4 pm, cover their heads while going out, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid direct exposure to the sun.
