There are few things in life as satisfying as finding the right dress. But what if it came with a rude surprise that could potentially haunt you and keep you up at night for the rest of your life?

We're not being over-dramatic here. A woman from Manhattan, New York, allegedly found a dead rat sewn into her dress she purchased at Zara, reports New York Post. She's now suing the fashion retailer. Cue the gasps!

According to a lawsuit filed on November 11, Cailey Fiesel, 24, had bought the dress from a Zara store in Greenwich, Connecticut, back in July. A few weeks later, she wore the dress to work for the first time and noticed a 'disturbingly pungent odour'.

Unable to find the source of the smell, Ms Fiesel went through her day until she felt 'a loose string from her dress rubbing against her leg.' To her horror, that 'string' allegedly turned out to be the leg of the dead mouse. The rat appeared to have been sewn into the hem of her dress. Eww!

Just imagine wearing this:

"I froze - I was paralyzed with fear," Ms Fiesel told New York Post. "I was in complete shock. My eyes saw that it was a mouse but my brain told myself it can't be," she added.

Luckily, Ms Fiesel had an extra set of clothes and quickly changed out of the dress.

Now, she's suing Zara over 'significant personal injuries and emotional distress.' She also allegedly suffered a rash after the incident.

The fashion retailer is apparently aware of the lawsuit and is investigating the issue further. "Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements," a spokesman for Zara told The Telegraph.
