Hurricane Harvey Ruined Their Wedding Plans. This Is How They Got Married

Their moving story has touched a chord with many.

Weddings hold great importance, especially in the lives of those starting a new life together. Most couples spend days finalising the minutest details for their special day. So you can imagine how hard it can be if all those preparations suddenly fall apart for the most inexplicable reasons. That's how it was for Texas couple Shelley and Chris Holland - their major wedding plans got ruined in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. However, their moving story of going ahead with the ceremony with the help of some compassionate people and a heartening picture from their wedding shoot has touched a chord with many on Facebook.

"My husband and I completely lost every plan we made over the last 6 months surrounding our upcoming wedding on September 2nd due to Hurricane Harvey. This included our wedding cake, the venue, the chapel the catering and so many other small details," says Ms Holland on Facebook. Her post, however, goes on to describe how the wedding came about, thanks to some very special people.

Since being shared on September 4, the post has received over 4.1 lakh reactions and more than 20,000 shares - and still very much counting.

"They have had to change venues, decorations, just about everything you can imagine, all in a days' notice. They were a great reminder today of who cares what life throws at us, the important thing is to love one another, and these two did exactly that," Twos Company Photography, the team behind the photo, said in a Facebook post.

Several others have also shared their thoughts on the viral picture and story.

"You have a tag line for the rest of your lives... 'Weathering storms together since 2017,'" says one Facebook user. "I love this pic. If it was my wedding pic, I would have a frame engraved that said, 'Real love will survive any storm,'" says another.

"Congrats. Even through the storm, you were able to find some peace. May God bless you both on this new adventure you're about to embark. #loveislove," says one commenter on the post. "How unselfish of the pastor to help this couple! The tragedies of Harvey will still be with us tomorrow, but this couple, their guests, and their pastor had some joy in the midst of chaos. What a beautiful testament to the human spirit!," says another.Click for more trending news
