Heart-Stopping Moment Child Runs Into Traffic, Is Almost Run Over By Truck

Viral video shows schoolchildren running across a road and narrowly avoid getting crushed by a truck

Shocking footage recorded on a truck driver's dashcam shows the heart-stopping moment a child runs across the road and is nearly run over by a speeding truck. The near-miss happened as children were getting off a school bus in Norway. According to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), although the incident took place in June, footage was only recently released to the public by the owner of the dashcam, who wanted to warn pedestrians of the potential danger of crossing busy roads. The footage instantly went viral.

The video posted on LiveLeak shows a schoolbus slow to a stop. Five children get down and scamper off, presumably towards their respective homes.

Suddenly, one child makes a dash across the road - not noticing the truck hurtling down the road on the other side.

Another, slightly older child follows the first as they both run across the road. There's no crosswalk in sight.

Spotting the large truck, the second child immediately stops and backtracks to safety.

The younger of the two quickly changes course and keeps running straight ahead, away from the truck. That split-second decision probably kept the child from being crushed under the vehicle.

The truck driver quickly hits the brake and within moments, the enormous red and white truck comes to a stop.

Fortunately, nobody was reported hurt during the incident.
